Recent NZ import Toregene was our best hope for the Warrnambool May Carnival and she did not disappoint. Arriving to us early March and having trialled up well since being on Australian soil, we were confident she would run a bold race on debut with the only query being the heavy track.
With one of the most talented jockeys in the land in the saddle in Jamie Kah, she jumped ok from barrier 10 and pushed forward doing some work to get across in the early stages. She settled well in second outside the leader then took control of the race coming into the straight, digging deep when tackled proving too strong to the line.
Congratulations to OTI and all of her connections, it was great to get her into the winners stall and provide a quick return on investment for her owners with a filly showing plenty of upside.
