Written Tycoon filly, Literary Magnate was able to kick off her racing career with a convincing 3 1/4 length win at Warrnambool in the two year old maiden plate. Purchased at the Inglis classic yearling sale she pushed Matthew beyond the budget, but he was thrilled to be bringing home the one he wanted. She has shown above average ability all the way through and for her to bring it to race day was a big relief for the team.
With jockey Dean Yendall in the saddle, she jumped ok from barrier one but didn’t have the early speed to take up the lead as first planned. She settled third, one back on the fence and when the gap opened into the straight she let down quickly and raced clear to win well.
Congratulations to her connections who are no doubt in for some fun days at the races with this filly. She will now head to Caulfield in the $1million showdown race which is exclusive to the two year old progeny of vobis sires nominated stallions.
