A chilly day in Ballarat was made a lot more bearable when the stable was able to Quinella race two the 1400m maiden. Stardom Awaayts who showed good promise early in his career was able to claim his first win ahead of his more fancied stablemate and race favourite Parvati Party, who has been honest all preparation.
Stardom Awaayts (Tosen Stardom x Awaayed) ridden by Will Gordon was slow away from barrier 10 and without being hustled settled at the rear of the field about eight lengths from the lead. He seemed to be niggled at mid race and was left chasing five wide from the 600m mark but kept coming around the home turn and ran away with the race in the last 150m by 2 1/4 lengths relishing off the good tempo. Matthew is confident that the turn around in his form is due to being back on top of the ground.
Congratulations to the connections of both horses. Stardom Awaayts will head to Swan Hill to keep him on dry ground and Parvati Party will also head to Swan Hill in a maiden over the suitable step out in distance to 1600m.
