After a disappointing last start performance on a bottomless heavy track at the Bool, Sachem was able to return to form back on top of the ground on a soft 5 at Swan Hill taking out the $50,000 1300m BM 64.

With Declan Bates in the saddle jumping from barrier two, which some thought was not the place to be by the last race of a three day carnival he jumped fairly and settled in the back half of the field.  When the horses began to fan on the turn looking for the favoured going, Declan took an inside run saving ground to see him hit the line full of running to win by 3.5 lengths.

Congratulations to his connections, who all raced his dam Flying Tessie with us which makes the wins that little bit more special.
