A winner at the Warrnambool May Carnival is hard to achieve but Rose Of Shalaa took the pressure off on day one by taking out the Callaghan Motors Vobis Gold Strike over 1000m for two year old fillies in good fashion.

Purchased at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale Rose Of Shalaa was set for this race from day one so to get the result in front of a home crowd was very rewarding.

Coming off a strong debut run finishing second after missing the kick at Terang, Matthew was confident she would have improved heading into Warrnambool.  Ridden by Dean Yendall she jumped from barrier two and settled behind the leader about two lengths off, the gaps emerged on the turn and she was able to kick and hold on from the fast finishing Capulet.

Congratulations to all of her connections. She has now gone to the paddock for a well deserved spell.
