There would not be too many six year old’s having only their third career start, but for owner Fitzwood Pty Ltd today their patience was rewarded with Beauleica winning on Jericho Cup Day at the Bool in the 1200m maiden.  The gelding by Brazen Beau had ran two thirds in his previous two starts and was better suited today on top of the ground.

Ridden by Declan Bates he jumped ok from barrier 5 and was restrained mid field three wide with cover about five lengths off the leader.  He went forward at the 500m mark to join in down the straight and just kept going to claim the race by 2 1/4 lengths.

Congratulations to his owner and in the words of the great Bart Cummings “Patience is the cheapest thing in racing and the least used”.
