Patience has payed off for the connections of 3yo Commands gelding Shortspresso, when he was able to break through for his maiden win in the 1100m race yesterday at Ballarat. The stable pulled the right rein with scratching him from the Warrnambool Carnival on the Tuesday to wait for the Ballarat race in the hope for a softer track.

Drawing slightly awkwardly to the inside, jockey Dean Yendall was able to pick his way through the field into the better going out wider on the track and hit the line to win by ¾ of a length.

Congratulations to Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock and all involved in the ownership of Shortspresso, it was great to get him back to the races and win with him first up.
