Seven year old Mick’s Hustler was able to turn his form around by taking out the 1600m BM64 at Stawell on Saturday.  Coming off a few average runs, the step out in distance seems to have suited.

Ridden by claiming apprentice Liam Riordan he was slightly slow away from the wideish gate and settled well in the back half of the field.  He then began to track into the race on the home turn and came down the centre of the track to hold off the Darren Weir trained favourite Yulong Sheng Long in a photo finish.

Congratulations to his connections, it was great to see Mick back in the winners stall.  Hopefully this gives him some confidence to continue on his winning way.
