Four year old Statue Of Liberty mare Manhattan Spirit was able to claim victory in the 1000m BM64 handicap at Warrnambool on Tuesday. Jumping from the widest barrier with jockey Damien Thornton in the saddle, she stormed home to just get the bob in on the line.
Jumping away a bit slowly she drifted back off mid field where she settled until the turn. Coming out into the better going she was the widest runner in the field and was far too strong to the line. Manhattan Spirit has now had two wins and a second from 8 starts.
Congratulations to her connections, it was a great thrill to get her into the winners stall and even better to have some of the owners on course to help celebrate.
