Lightly raced three year old gelding Montecristo was able to tick his maiden off at Swan Hill over a mile.  Coming off an average last start performance at Werribee on a soft track, we were keen to see him back on top of the ground and it proved to be the key.

Jumping ok from barrier two jockey Dean Yendall pushed forward and settled on the leaders heels in fourth position.  Coming around the turn he seemed to come off the bit but took a rails run when the majority of the field fanned, before kicking and justifying his favouritism to win by a neck.

Congratulations to OTI and all of his connections.  His form now reads 4- 1.0.1
