Two year old Magic Albert colt Mangels was able to get his maiden win on the board at Warrnambool today in the 1100m race. In heavy 10 conditions Matthew was confident he would handle the track after his first start effort at Terang on similar ground.
With Damien Thornton in the saddle he was ok away from the gates and settled 5th on the outside about 4 lengths off the leader. He started winding up on the turn and came to the middle of the track where he let down well in the straight to run down the leader in a photo finish on the line.
