Colin and Janice McKenna’s homebred filly ICY POLE had us heading to the races with some confidence after winning all three of her trials prior to her race day debut.  However, knowing there is always more pressure on race day it was pleasing to see the three year old filly by Frosted tick off her maiden at Hamilton with ease winning the 1100m race by almost three lengths.

With renowned front running rider Linda Meech in the saddle Icy Pole jumped fast from barrier four and settled a narrow leader on the fence.  Given some rein in the straight she slipped away under minimal riding to find the line for an easy win.

Congratulations to all of her owners, it was great to see so many of them at the races to enjoy the win.  Icy Pole will now enjoy some time in the paddock to benefit from the spring grass.
