Homebred 2yo filly Don’t Doubt Maeve was able to claim another win off the back of her last start Geelong victory, taking a huge step up in class this time taking out a feature race the $100,000 Vobis Gold Elvstroem Classic over 1300m at the Swan Hill carnival.

In trying heavy 9 conditions, she jumped well from barrier 7 with jockey Jarrod Fry in the saddle and went forward to take up the lead. On straightening she had a narrow margin and was being ridden along but kept finding and fought hard to the line to go on and win by ½ a length.

Congratulations to her small group of owners, including Matthews wife Ultra who have been rewarded not only financially but also having a sentimental connection having had bred this filly from our broodmare Banri Maeve. We are certainly enjoying the journey with Peppa and look forward to her next preparation after a well deserved spell.
