Lightly raced three year old Bernardini gelding Bernie’s Regret, was able to get his maiden win on the board yesterday in the 1400m race at Ballarat. Coming off an encouraging last start first up third placing, he was able to hold off the Weir trained favourite Champagne Friday and get the job done.

Given a well timed ride by Damien Thornton, he jumped from barrier 6 and settled at the rear of the field.  Swinging wide on the turn to the outside of the field he gained momentum down the middle of the track letting down well and was too strong on the line.

Congratulations to all of his connections, it was great to get Bernie into the winners stall hopefully he can now go on his winning way.
