Promising NZ staying import Almsgiver was able to get his maiden win on the board in good fashion at Swan Hill on cup day in the 1600m 2&3 yo race.
At just his third Australian start coming off two earlier placings, Almsgiver gave in form jockey Dean Yendall one of his five winning rides on the day. Jumping ok from barrier 8 he went forward to settle perfectly in the one back one off position about two lengths from the leader. On straightening he cruised away to justify his $1.80 favouritism and claim the race by two lengths.
Congratulations to OTI and all of his connections who are no doubt going to have some fun with a horse who shows plenty of upside.
