Homebred gelding Charlie’s Tin was able to break his maiden today at Werribee in tough lead all the way style. By Myboycharlie out of Tina’s Debut who Matthew also trained, he took out the stayers race over 2000m coming off a second placing over the same distance last start.
Ridden by Will Gordon, he jumped away from barrier nine and was able to cross and take up the lead. There was little change in the race throughout until he was threatened on the home turn but he kept finding and went on to win by half a length.
Congratulations to his very loyal owners who have been with the stable since Matthew first began training, we are thrilled to get a result for them.
